Peltor Comtacs Dead After 4 Months

Was shooting Saturday and all at once the headset was full of static and went dead. Changed batteries with no luck getting them to turn back on.

Also had a set of MSA Sordins die on me due to a battery terminal issue.

Anyone have similar a issue with Comtacs?

How as the customer service experience?

How do you store your headsets? Are they ever left in a vehicle trunk?

No, they are in a range bag that is stored in the house when not at the range.

I changed out the 2 batteries in mine and wondered why they failed again right away.

3 Batteries. Not sure if you made that mistake or if same model, but I had to bang that sucker a couple of times to get that third battery out.

Also spent a good while with some 99% alcohol on swabs to clean the contacts.

    Which gen are they?

I have 3s and they stay in my trunk attached to my helmet and I've never had an issue. From sub zero tob100+ I'm on the original batteries (had about 18 months).

Gen3, I just picked them up in February after the Sordins stopped working. I fixed the Sordins but it took me some time to get them apart and fix the battery terminal issue common to them. While they were down I picked up the Comtac IIIs.

They were sent off Thursday, I'll report back how Peltor handles it.

I revived my MSA Sordins by putting a small piece of adhesive backed copper tape on the battery. This solved my battery contact problem.

Electronic ears drive me nuts. I have a set where one ear won't work in the desert, but sparkles back to life when I'm at home. Hate em.

I don't shoot enough un-suppressed to buy MSA Sordins.
