My BRN-180 Project, a little something different.

Yesterday evening, I picked up my BRN-180 forged stripped lower from my FFL. Upon getting it home, I immediately began assembling the lower receiver. Finally, I have a complete BRN-180.

    Upper Assembly:
    BRN-180 AR-15 16" 223 Wylde Upper Receiver Assembly

    Lower Assembly:
    BRN-180 Forged Stripped Lower Receiver
    MCX/MPX Minimalist Folding Stock (Black)
    CMMG Lower Parts Kit
    LaRue Tactical MBT-2S
    TangoDown BattleGrip (BG-16)

    Optic/Sights:
Vortex Optics Crossfire 2 MOA Red Dot Sight
Midwest Industries Combat Rifle Folding Sight Set

It seems that the balancing point is right in front of the receivers. It is pretty well balanced with a tad more felt weight forward making it comfortable to shoulder. When I tested (on a standard AR-15 lower) the upper assembly shortly after I got it, it shot amazingly smooth and accurate. Since getting the BRN-180 lower assembled, I am looking forward to taking the completed weapon to the range to see how the whole package works together.

Looks nice, and I want a BRN-180 myself, but if you bought a complete upper then this doesn't belong in the CUSTOM build forum, in my opinion.

It is kind of in the grey area. Not really an AR build and not a factory complete weapon. Of course, I did have to build up the lower assembly. No choice for the upper. It is only sold as a complete unit.

Not counting the BUISs or optic, right about $1200.

To me thats a really low price for that unique of a gun. Nothing by FN, HK, or CZ is that cheap and those guns are made in much larger batches.

How do you like side charging?

I went with the nodak lower myself(one of the first 10 shipped). Haven't had much time to play with the gun yet. I was hoping they would have had their ar-18 style folding stock worked out by now. Other projects just came before it.

Kinda wish I had just sbr'd the lower and went with a shorty upper.
