Operative word is "discreet;" toolboxes don't say "gun" but still say "valuable stuff inside."

What I can say is that I've rolled/drug it all over the damn place, and while not optimal, it's pretty easy to live with. They do have heavier cases that also have huge wheels, but I don't like the form factor of the body of the case itself. I will say that once you reach a certain weight, two smaller cases are MUCH easier to deal with than one behemoth that weighs 150lbs+, imo.
Back to "discreet"--most people associate Pelicans with "yo high-dollar stuff here," and I'm shooting for a loaded weight of around 50-60.

I point-blank asked High Sierra customer service what the weight capacity on a couple of their bags was, but I think the response was a "tell him what he wants to hear whether true or not."

Cross-check my Bullshit Detector on this?
Q: "Are any of your wheeled duffels suitable for sustained carry of around a 50- to 60-lb. load on uneven/unpaved terrain? I've been looking for a new range bag and was wondering if the 26" Cermak or 30" Evolution might be up to the job."
A: "We appreciate your interest in our products. This will be a great selection for your needs. All information for this item points to its durability and strength."

I think when you're looking for a bag as big as what you want it's going to say "valuable stuff inside"

High Sierra isn't going to hold up well for long. Unfortunately, drop bottom duffels really fell out of favor a decade ago and there aren't many left. FWIW, 1000 rounds of 5.56 weighs over 30lbs. A couple of 10lbs guns, plus miscellaneous shit, and it's gonna get heavy quick.

I'd bet that those duffel bags weigh as much as that pelican I listed. Pelican will stand behind their cases (BUT NOT THEIR LUGGAGE), no luggage company will.

I had a Travelpro drop bottom duffel bag 15 years ago that was by far the most durable of the type. 30" long, fairly sturdy. It still broke in a year of travel.

Eagle Creek probably makes one of the better wheeled duffels that aren't "crazy" expensive. The best overall would be Briggs and Riley, and they make a drop bottom, and they'd stand behind it. For $600 for the big guy https://www.briggs-riley.com/product...-duffle-uwd129

The 27" model is $400 in blue right now https://www.briggs-riley.com/collect...o-wheel-duffle

And none of these are going to stand up to being dragged around the range.

FWIW: I travel for a living. I use a Pelican 1607 (small end of checked bag size). In the rare event that a latch gets broken, I just call them and they ship me a couple. If the case ever shits the bed, they will fix me up.

Earlier I said I use a 1637 for the range. It's actually a 1615. Much more manageable in the back seat of a truck, car trunk, etc. Buy it in Orange and paint "Rescue" or some trite nonsense on there, and nobody will think twice about it.

FWIW: My suitcase is Orange and has "Warning: Live Bees" stenciled on all sides. I don't generally have to worry about anyone getting too close to it, at the baggage carousel or otherwise.
