    Help with 9mm 1911

I have an early Springfield MC Operator with the straight cut trail in .45.
I like the things that make a 1911 a 1911-good trigger, slim grip etc.
I am transitioning away from .45 to 9mm and would like to know what is a good 9mm 1911.
I already have an Actionworks HP, and have or have owned just about all of the plastic 9’s, so a 1911 is really all I’d be interested in.
If anybody has a good recommendation I’d sure appreciate it.

For an out of the box solution?

Wilson Combat. They're about the only production 9mm 1911 I'd bet on.

But really? They're just not all that. They just function better in 45

Good stuff here too, but you have Ffw to get it:

    Dan Wesson is my favorite.

Specialist (steel frame) or Guardian (alloy). Pick your barrel length and finish. For $1500, they can't be beat.

D&W or Springfield gets my votes. I own both. I gotta Valor in DW and its sweet. SA I own a Lispey edition gun and a Pro.

    All have been very good.

Another vote for Dan Wesson. It’s the best out of the box non-custom one out there.

I will also endorse the Dan Wesson. The Vigil as a best buy in a Commander 9MM that you can carry conceal.

Grissom did a YT video of the Colt Competition 9mm. He was impressed. Never shot one or been around one. I have the WC 9mm. Just because, wife won some money in a drawing. My just reward. just not as nice as her new SUV.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you,
but it's still on my list.

That used to be the case, but hasn't been in several years.

There are a number of good production 1911s in 9mm. Colt, Dan Wesson, SA all make fully functional out of the box 9mm 1911s. I love my Wilsons as well, but other than a little better accuracy and a lot better fit and finish, they don't function any better than my SA Range Officers.
