It’s dishonest and not appropriate to compare different metrics that are not on the same scale giving a disproportionate difference in magnitude. Weird hill to die on but alright. I won’t derail the thread further.

I would have used the 2018 numbers and presented it differently.

You can say it’s dishonest and inappropriate all you want.

However it accurately depicts population size corrected incidence.

I maintain comparing raw numbers of 80% of the people running around America to 10% of the people running around America would be disingenuous. And it still paints an unfavorable picture.

I seriously propose and would be interested in your representation and how you would do it corrected for population size and not come out with a similar representation.

A lot of references to the 13% of the US population that is black in these stats, but it is not all blacks committing homicides. The FBI data is broken down also by gender & age. Male blacks between 13 & 50 are the most heavily represented demographic with homicide offenders, and they are way, way less than 13% of the US population. Closer to 3%.

Yes, you can nail down stuff in significant detail.

It’s takes a little more involved statistics to account for those already incarcerated, those who aged out of the age groups with previous homicides on their hands, state of residence, urban zip, etc.

Then,

Take away the rural and semi rural and suburban members of that age and race -

And we get down to a very small amount of the population racking up the homicides.

But, when you add in other violent crimes, opens back up a the percentages some.

This is going to sound horribly old fashioned, but out here in the sticks where guys are way more likely to have Dads, chores, jobs, and moms getting after them about their homework, things look a lot different. They end up going to the citadel or West Point and being a helicopter pilot, or enlist and become a green beret like their dad, or start working at the feed store part time in HS and end up a after they graduate a manager, or the autozone on weekends and go off to college.

I understand what she is saying and I wouldnt want George Floyd as a tenant. The fact he was a felon who used drugs has no bearing on the guilt or innocence of his killer.
