    This. Ime employee/management relationships have a high correlation to company performance.

    But it takes hard work and time to build those relationships, and people are impatient and dont like hard work.

    It also requires trust, honesty, and decency.

    Railroads have a policy against being trustworthy, honest, or decent to employees who are not in upper management.

    It is extremely adversarial, and the more abusive stupid and obnoxious the manager, the faster they get promoted. Plus the RR’s strongly prefer kids out of college with no knowledge of actual operations, so there is no competence there at all.

    Sounds like upper mgt is ****ing themselves/investors.
