Gouge in cam pin cutout, but not where I normally see it

I noticed this gouge inside the cam pin cutout of my LR300 upper. I've seen gouges at the rear of that cutout, but never the front. Obviously the front angle of the cam pin is contacting the upper, but since it's already there, is there any worry of it getting worse or cracking?
The outside of the upper seems pretty built up in that area, but this is also an extremely rare piece so I don't want to break it. I try to shoot a lot.
    Thanks

Why don't you monitor it and see if it worsens. Alternatively, if you're worried about the upper, consider replacing it with a stripped mil-spec upper and keep the other one pristine.

It's not compatible with standard uppers.

Ah, I see. I just looked up the LR300. Wasn't familiar with those.

Likely just a tight tolerance and the cam pin is rubbing that area. I would just monitor it. Very cool rifle you have. I’ve been enamored with the ZM since I saw one in American Rifleman around 1993. I almost bought a FA compatible upper for my Colt m16 in 2003, but it required drilling the lower to install the autosear release lever. I spoke to Allen Zitta and he told me that doing so would increase the value of my M16 lower. Ha.

Thanks guys. Yes, it's the prize of my collection, hence wanting to not break the upper haha. But it's not FA.
I'm still considering a different cam-pin, not sure.
