Barrel for mk 12 clone

Hiya everyone, was just wondering what would be one of the best barrels I could use for my latest upper build I will be attempting to try. I'm trying to make my own mk 12 mod 1 upper, but I want it to be fairly close to the parts the military uses. What barrel brand would be reccomended for an 18 in rifle length?

If you want do do a Mk12, that’s the option, though there are some fine alternatives.

Pretty sure White Oak is fine. Ballistic Advantage is out of stock but cheaper. Compass Lake also has an option from Criterion which is undoubtedly good.

If I were going to spend the money on a Mk12 build (I thought about and decided against this), I’d go all the way and get the Centurion, probably a complete upper.
But... Unless you just want to do a clone, there’s nothing wrong with looking at a more modern option, like a good medium weight 16” barrel.

Barrel
An 18-inch (457 mm) threaded-muzzle match-grade free floating stainless steel heavy barrel with a 1:7 (178 mm) rifling twist ratio is standard for the SPR. The barrels are manufactured by Douglas Barrels with a unique contour that reduced weight but maintained rigidity for accuracy. An OPS Inc. muzzle brake and collar (to align the OPS Inc. 12th Model Suppressor) is installed with the barrel. These barrels were designed to take advantage of the new Mk 262 cartridge, which uses a 77-grain (5 g) bullet.


Note: Ops Inc. is no longer producing the collar and brake. Allen Engineering is now manufacturing them (AEM-5).

Given this, I would contact Compass Lake Engineering about the barrel. Frank uses a variety of barrel blanks.

I was looking at compass lake too, I think I like that company a little more because of the customization options you can choose for the douglas and criterion barrels they make.

Centurion is obviously a great choice

Compass Lake offers the Douglas for $370 which is only like only like $30 more than the Criterion option they have. That is the route i would go as the barrel is a very important piece of the build

White Oak has an SPR barrel for $270 that shoots lights out as well
