You seem to be caught in their trap. That is much like the academics’ use of the term “racism”.

For a balanced perspective on America being an empire vs using imperialist tactics from time to time, read King.

Empire is a noun; imperial is an adjective.

There's more than one kind of empire. If we didn't need oil, we would not have participated in how much bloodshed in the middle east? While we don't "build colonies" strictly as an empire would (with deference to several states), we do trade imperial tactics for security and money. 50 shades of gray and all.

You are correct. The United States is not an empire, but has utilized imperial tactics.

Again, i can research and think for myself. The plain and generally agreed facts ie the REALITY, that you speak of, is that we have repeatedly deposed leaders throughout South and Central America in favor of people, many not so nice, who took orders from Washington, their Supreme ruler.

Again, i wont apologize for it, in many ways it was not a bad thing even for the people of those nations-- but you can't stick your fingers in your ears and pretend "Neener, neener" it didnt happen. Ignoring reality on the ground and playing word games to try and avoid an inescapable conclusion doesnt make it any less true.

You are stretching to pretend the US is the “Supreme Ruler” of any other nation at a given time. For one, we elect a new leader every four years. Nothing is absolute. While there may be overwhelming influence at a given time by the US, I still can’t figure out who the emperor is.

I can't believe 4 or 5 pages have been wasted over arguing about the definition of empire. Kind of reminds me of the South Park episode I watched the other day where the two nerds came to blows over the total number of original Star Trek episodes. 72 or 73 based on whether or not the two part Menagerie episode counted as 1 or 2 episodes.

Whatever you want to call this Republic, Democracy, Empire, Nation, Country, State, Confederation, Federation, Kingdom, aka The United States of America, whatever you choose to call it the fact remains unchanged that our sun is setting. It is the natural cycle of things. The petty pointless bickering is partly why our side lost.

We haven't quite "lost" yet. There are those who have the mindset of "If I can't have her, nobody will." Some would rather see this bitch burned to the ground and blood running like water than live in a socialist/commie country. If that's what it takes then wreck this motherfvcker.

Of course I would NEVER subscribe to that fascist line of thinking. I will welcome my new commie overlords.

Nothing sounds as sweet as the fireside fiddle.

Our side hasn't lost. The pendulum swings both ways. We are letting 10% of our country influence how we feel instead of letting them influence what we do.

Stop sayin'. You are talking about U.S. Law Enforcement and Military. I catch someone moving against my Brother's or Son's families and I'll park a car in front of their door and burn the house to the ground around them.

P.S. Edited because I have no desire to threaten a member and it sure came across that way.
