    Shimming a Muzzle Device

I decided to go with a Dead Air Flash Hider on my current project. It's going to be pinned and welded on a Colt 14.5" SOCOM barrel. I contacted Dead Air, and was told that the flash hider doesn't have to be indexed, but that people often do index them on a pin and weld install.

My question regards the shim kit needed for indexing. Is there a specific kit I should be looking into? Last I checked, I was unable to find an in-stock Dead Air shim kit. Will any kit do?

Non-A2 flash hiders are new to me. I appreciate your help.

    Have you looked into Accu-Washers?

Yes. Those look pretty slick. Are they good to go?

I use them almost exclusively, regardless of if I'm doing a pin & weld.

I also like them. Because they are not paper thin. I probably wouldn’t bother timing a three prong, though.

Unless you're OCD and want the pin and weld at the bottom out of sight.

What is the consensus on indexing a pinned flash hider? Do most of you guys do it?

    Accuwasher here too.

    On a pin/weld, I index it.

Have you asked the person doing the p&w if they have shims? Most professionals would I’m thinking, or at least mine did.

My OCD wouldn’t allow it to be “unindexed”
