A little bit of a rant.....

I cannot stand when a company shows items in stock throughout the whole process of ordering all the way until you pay the ****ing bill....then the items are OUT OF STOCK! Now you’re screwed because your account is being hit for a charge for items that company never had in the first place. But they were too dishonest to let you know that before you hit submit to pay.

That’s some shady shit right there! Damn unprofessional if you ask me.

I’ve been a long time costumer of this place too. This is the second time this happened to me within the last 2 weeks. That shit won’t happen anymore.

    Rant off!

The current panic/mania is driving a lot of sellers to do some pretty unethical things, as you have seen.

    I recently paid a premium for a semi-auto pistol that arrived well-used.

These are dark times in this society, and I suspect it will get worse in the days ahead.

Remember the good ones when this turns around (in stock all the way to the end). Often times they won't have absolute lowest price but it's about guaranteed to be there. Hence the thread about good retailers.

Sorry about your luck, it's a horrible time to buy guns and ammo

In time like this, you really want to be able to call an 800 number and place an order with a person. If a company doesn't have a number you can call, you are taking your chances.

Obviously you did reasonable due diligence by sticking with a supplier that has proven reliable in the past and now that they've done it twice you are adding them to the "never again" list. Sadly this is an internet model and it's becoming SOP for the most part. They can always claim, when you started the payment process they were in stock but we sold the last one before you could hit "submit." I mean how are you ever gonna prove that isn't true?

Everyone I deal with, if the item is gone they give you a "backorder" option and you don't pay until the item is actually in stock again. If they can't give you that assurance over the phone, then move on. And yes, getting that kind of assurance will cost more.

Not directed to you personally, but I've seen too many people to count, play that game trying to spend $408.00 when a completely reputable seller has the same item guaranteed "in stock" for $458.00 and it blows my mind every time.

I'll pay more to a company with live inventory than ever risk an OpticsPlanet type of fiasco.

That’s the thing, they have items marked OUT OF STOCK and items marked IN STOCK. The items I ordered where marked as IN STOCK. There’s a 3 step process to their ordering.

Add items to cart - all items IN STOCK
Verify order, shipping and mailing address - all items IN STOCK
Pay for order, shows shipping and tax - all items IN STOCK

This is where they turn shady...Receipt confirmation for order after payment has been submitted - half the items show OUT OF STOCK.

I’ve been using this company for almost 15 years, never had a single bad experience with them, until now. Very disappointed in them. I consider that just another form of theft. It’s deceptive.

I did email them last night asking them (nicely) to cancel my order. I also explained to them that I thought their practices were shady and unprofessional. I sent them screen shots of each step in the process showing all items IN STOCK until after payment confirmation. We’ll see what they say today.

EDITED TO ADD: The last part of your post is exactly how I’m feeling right now.

It’s funny you say that, because I was “shopping” at another place whose prices were higher but decided to save a few bucks and go with who I’ve known longer.

    Never dealt with optics planet.

I should have put my original order in with MGW. I like how they do things. I’ve only ordered three times from them but they’ve been 100% with my orders. If you want 10 items of X and they don’t have it, they tell you right there on the page - “the quantity you are requesting is not in stock.“

I agree for the most part but there are exceptions like BCM and SKD who simply do not take calls. Yet, you know they will come through.

Even the reputable companies WITH phone numbers aren’t taking calls. Had a recent experience with a very reputable company that was excruciatingly slow for a $1300 refund on a defective DBAL and switch. CS phone says, “due to high demand we are not taking phone calls, please email.” They took care of me and I will still use them but it was painful.
