    1st Gen Colt 9mm Carbine

    Greetings,

I have an original Colt 9mm carbine with a fixed stock. I want to convert is to a collapsible M-4 style stock. Will any AR/M4 type stock work on a 1st gen 9MM carbine.

Would appreciate and suggestion on manufacturer for same.

    Thanks,

    Phil

    Got a picture?

In general, yes a quality CAR receiver extension tube will work, but the buffer should be longer or have a spacer to limit bolt travel.

Let me humbly suggest that the factory subgun had a 10.5" barrel, and that is what my SBR version wears. Shorter doesn't look or feel as balanced, and will of course require the FSB to be either moved or removed. And it does keep your offhand further from harms way.
10.5" is the way to go, IMHO, and gives 9mm bullets a real bump in performance.

Use the efile instead of paper.
