Well, Rhino's kinda got a point. 99% of the people out there should buy factory assembled guns from reputable manufacturers. If you can't properly diagnose a simple malfunction such as the one you're having and you blame the A5 system, gas block and everything in between instead of immediately looking at extraction, it may not be for you, and that's okay. Swapping gas blocks, returning the BCG, and removing the A5 is just throwing money at the problem and hope it sticks. There's a reason I don't work on vehicles.

I don’t join a forum to argue who knows more than the next guy. I’m learning, and I joined this forum to learn and seek advice. Thanks to those who are willing to help. Let’s stop this argument please...

OK, not to argue but to offer a suggestion... first, put it back the way you had it when it failed. Then change the extractor spring and shoot it again.

Question 1. Does that make it work?
--Yes: Problem solved, enjoy your iron.
--No: Pick ONE other part on the list, change it, shoot it again. Go back to Question 1 and repeat, ONE piece at a time, until Answer becomes "Yes."

When you change out a ton of parts all at once without test-fires in between, you don't really have any way of knowing which changes solve old problems and which create new. For illustration, I had a known-good Toolcraft BCG that I swapped in a SOPMOD extractor kit right out of the wrapper (because "all the cool kids had SOPMOD kits in") and it turned Jamomatic; put the OEM TC parts back in and it runs like a champ.

Thanks and thanks again! It’s a great suggestion and just like MistWolf I appreciate and will implement. As I continue to learn... the “dumb” question will mitigate. I ask the experts to learn...

    10.3 DD with A5 system

Why are you buying parts if you haven’t isolated the problem yet?

ie. Swapping the bcg then testing > swapping gas tube and retesting, etc.

You’ve confirmed there’s not a smashed primer or debris somewhere it shouldn’t be yes?

Sure because assembling an AR is literally rocket science.

Some of you guys need to take a step back and breathe. Check your own troubleshooting skills before criticizing someone else's. Elpotro came to this forum because he wanted the right answers to his questions. Was he wrong? Instead of dog-piling elpotro for being all over the map, ask questions that will isolate and clarify what the malfunction is so we can zero in on the solution.

Those who suggested investigating the gas system, asking what ammo was used and pointing out that the A5H2 and green spring aren't the problem are spot on. Elpotro has two problems with his AR. One is weak extraction, the other is short stroking. The fix for the first problem is obvious- Install a Colt or Sprinco M4 extractor spring. The second will take further investigation. After replacing the extractor spring, the next step is perform a lock back check with a known good BCG. The diameter of the gas tube where it enters the gas key should also be measured.
