MP5A3 stock shape question

I've got a bit of a stupid question regarding MP5A3 stocks:

Why are their butts concave? Why aren't they convex like G3A4 stocks (I know early MP5 stocks were convex, but while they eventually became concave, G3A4 stocks remained convex)? Or flat like MP5A2 stocks and G3A3 stocks, UMP stocks, B&T MP5 stocks, &c.? The specific shape of MP5A3 and MP5A3-F stocks in particular seem like the worst possible buttstock shape, with possible exception of ye olde crescent (but that, at least, I understand the why of).

Don't know for sure but I'd wager because G3 convex para stocks feel like a meat tenderizer and it's not just the recoil of 7.62 doing it. The concave curvature sits on the shoulder a little nicer, the very first all metal G3 slide stocks were also concave rather than converse.

I also suspect a convex curve stock would be prone to snag gear and such things more easily. But more important than the curvature of the stock itself, check weld on all HK slide stocks really, really sucks. The only stock that is more uncomfortable is the Uzi and some AK stocks.

If that A3 "saw it in Die Hard and during the Princess Gate raid" stock wasn't so iconic, nobody would use them and if we are being honest Choate folder are far more comfortable and much, lighter.

I actually don't mind the cheekweld that much, on either a G3A4 or an MP5A3 - it's better than East German AK wirefolders (which I also don't mind) and waaay better than AK underfolders (which I can't stand). The only thing I cannot stand about the A3-F is that concave buttstock.

Underfolders and wire folders are also terrible. People buy them for looks and because such things were banned for 10 years, but if you aren't in and out of vehicles or jumping out of aircraft there is almost no reasons.

My favorite MP5 was actually one where I installed a collared and buffered HK93 stock on it.
