The JDI imported one? He only brought 51 into the US. I have yet to see one up for sale, though I haven’t looked very hard. I like mine

Yes, that one. Are they reliable? Accurate? Genuine?

Reliable yes. Genuine, most definitely. Haven’t shot groups but, there are a couple others here that I know bought one, maybe they can speak to the accuracy but I would guess it is a 1.5-2.0 MOA gun..?

Yes, depending on the price. This one just sold for $6,800, but it does include the stock.

Mine was a semi and I didn't mag dump it very much so I'll defer to you. I have run my 551 hard and heavy while suppressed and didn't notice a lot of heat, definitely less than almost every AK I own.

Do you want a nice AK or do you want a nice Scar/AR18.

While possibly a nicer rifle, I feel that the 55X series is sort of obsolete. Thats not to say that one can't make it work, just not something that I am willing to pay a premium for.

The APC223 looks pretty cool. Would like to check one out

I wouldn’t say the SIG is obsolete. It is old world craftsmanship, heavy, and not as ergonomic as the M16 or recent next generation aluminum chassis designs. My SIGs are not my go to for fighting rifles, they are a niche in my collection. They are great fun to shoot. Much like my SCAR, FNC, AUGs. Swiss 55x are aesthetically pleasing and ooze quality, like owning a Rolex you can shoot. In a perfect world, buy both the APC 223 and Swiss SIG 55x. In a world based in financial reality, if one can’t afford both, buy the Swiss 55x. No contest.

I’ve never even seen one of these Sig 553 guns. After looking at the price they must be legit. Would love to play with one someday.

They are fantastic IMO. In full disclosure, I’m very biased. I have lusted after the Swiss 55x series since about 1997, well before I could afford to buy any. They are so well designed and executed. The 55x is hands down my favorite for collecting and shooting. The M16 series is far better from the standpoint of actually implementing as an all purpose fighting rifle. But not every firearm must have utilitarian purposes. The Swiss 55x scratches a very particular collecting itch for me.

If you want one, I suggest you order from the importer, JDI sooner rather than later. These good times for imports won’t last forever.

Many people are completely confused by the fact that JDI’s website www.sanswissarms.com shows almost everything out of stock. You order whatever you want, pay a deposit, then wait patiently. Emphasis on patiently waiting, because everything takes about 6 months.
