    San 553 vs B&T APC223

Anyone have extensive trigger time between both the San 553 and APC223?

I'm debating picking one of the two up but leaning with the San 553.

I'm a left handed shooter so the APC with the folding charging handle is a nice addition. Having said that I'm actually leaning with the 553. I feel like the B&T will make some upgrades in the near future. So I can always purchase at a later date.

If I order the 553 I'm also thinking this build
    12" barrel
Steel or Alloy lower - any input on this?
Diopter but also adding the B&T rail unless everything thinks the rail is better and foregoing the Diopters
    1/7 twist with 4 position

All I can add is diopters plus B&T rail is IMO far superior than the rail model alone.
I assume you mean 4 position stock. I would say this, if you don't need a buffer tube, there is no good reason to put one on any rifle.
And I personally prefer steel lowers but it's really a matter of aesthetics.

I am a fan of both firearms, but if I had to choose it would be the SIG 553 no contest. I own rail and diopter model SIG 55x rifles and personally prefer the railed receiver. That said rail vs diopter is a personal preference. The diopters are amazing, like they make HK diopters seem crude. If you go with diopters, definitely add the aluminum B&T optic rail. The quad rail aluminum handguard is a necessity in my opinion. If you plan on using a suppressor, you will want the 4-position gas valve. As for stocks, my preference is for the folding/collapsing Swiss stock. I also prefer the steel lower.

Since you’re leaning toward a diopter model 553 LB, I would go with green furniture, gray finish, steel lower ala StG 07.

Absolutely agree. Have one of the first 553s and have had the B&T. The Sig seems a lot sturdier to me. I would also get the diopter model with rail if you have a choice. There is no functional difference between the alloy and steel lowers. The steel is going to add some weight but most people thinks it looks better. Im sure both weapons would serve you well. The only negative I have for the 553 is the cost and availablility of magazines. Im set with those myself.

You can order the 553 with a NATO lower that takes AR15 magazines. Even though I already have a 551 with an aluminum lower that takes the rock and lock magazines, I bought a NATO lower to just to see how it would work. It runs great. You can go the NATO lower route with confidence if you want to avoid buying the rock and lock magazines.

I think you went with the right choice. I documented my feeding issues with my APC223 in on eof the apc223 threads in this forum. Basically it would not feed anything but the pointiest ammo like M855 or MK262. Softpoint Gold Dot ammo was a spectacular failure.

Question for you, did you order from JDI firearms? I see everything is listed as back ordered on their website, did they accept your order and how long did they say before you will get anything? thanks!
