I don’t have any personal experience with ATN thermals. I have used ATN gen 3 nightvision. When I bought mine I had the same question. that is why I put the hunting condition in the videos. High humidity is the worst conditions. Ie rain, snow, and just high humidity. My opinion, I wouldn’t get anything less that 640 and the biggest objective you can afford. Also look at the micron specs too. Bigger the objective the more heat can be picked up, in my mind. Hope this helps.

Thanks. The reason I asked is I went night hunting in Alabama a few weeks ago with a friend who had an ATN. It was smoking hot and we were dodging rain showers so humid was high.

We did not have a problem picking out the deer but we had a bunch of green feedback around the deer. We also had a hard time getting it sighted in because everything around the shooting range was glowing hot.

I want one of the scopes but I want to try some different ones 1st.

There are some companies will rent them for a fee of course. They give you two or 3 days. I sight in on black hot. What I use to sight in a piece of white cardboard because it doesn’t show heat. Then use electrical tape black to make the cross. I tape from edge to edge. Them in the middle of the cross I use aluminum tape
