Scope adapter/reducer rings. yay or nay?

I have an extra Scalarworks scope mount that I really love and a Leupold scope that I also really love.

The mount is 30mm and the scope is 1".

The mount does not come in 1" and I do not want to replace the scope.

I have found 1" to 30mm adapters, basically an insert that goes between the scope and mount. Has anyone used these before? Do they work? Are they reliable or is this just a terrible idea?

This is just going on an integrally suppressed 10/22 so recoil isn't an issue.

For that platform and use they should be absolutely fine.
