14.5 pistol, bad idea?
I purchased a OSS Elite over the barrel (3 1/2") Silencer and wanted to put together something that would work well with it. I knew I was going with BCM. I also knew with a 11.5 and a2 it wouldn't fit. The 12.5 might fit closely, but might not tighten all the way because of the A2 front sight. the railed versions extended to 10", making mounting impossible. I decided to go with a 14.5 middy with a 10" rail. Mounted, it leaves about an inch between the rail and the OSS, and is still shorter than a standard carbine with muzzle device. 31" and my 16" with FH is 33.5. I did not permanently attach a muzzle device because I wanted to be able to use my OSS and remove it.
The more I am practicing, the more I am loving the 14.5 pistol with the SB A3 brace. I wonder why they aren't more popular. Why are so many people still welding their muzzle devices and going "rifle". Are people nervous the ATF is going to change its ruling and make pistol braces illegal? Could they even pull it off? I mean, so many have done it, it is probably in common use, hundreds of thousands being sold.
Is there something I am missing?
