Upgraded P320 pistols are still going boom.

It looks like upgraded guns are still having problems. A new lawsuit has detailed many instances where guns have discharged “uncommanded” and it looks like last week a Milwaukee LEO was shot by his partner’s holstered pistol while they were attempting to effect an arrest on the ground.

Another department bought replacement pistols nearly overnight after one of their officers had a holstered P320 Fire.

I haven’t seen it mentioned here yet. Seems similar to the “where there is smoke there is fire” situation that occurred before the first time an upgrade was announced.

How do we know the Milwaukee incident was a 320?

Interesting this is coming back up. Part of the upgrade was a replacement sear with a step in it like a half cock notch. That was suppose to catch the sear if the striker somehow tripped without the trigger being fully depressed. I wonder what is pressing the trigger. I remember a few years ago being contacted by Safariland about a law suit over their 6000 series light holsters not fitting around the weapon as well as their non-light holsters. Officers were discharging weapons and blaming the poor holster fit. For whatever reason the issue kind of went away. Who knows what's going on.

Not saying it can't happen but when I read about someone taking an IWB holster off a belt and it discharges I would immediately question what kind of cheap holster were they using. Also when fighting to get the cuffs on stuff flies off the Batbelt. I've spent plenty of time with the flashlight looking for magazines, cruiser keys, baton's and radios that went flying into the ditch after a fight. These light short trigger pulls are great for shooting tight groups but when that trigger gets bumped that pistol will go off. I'm actually amazed with all the snaps and pull tabs hanging down on cruiser jackets more guns don't go off when holstered. David

Haven't heard anything related from the M17 side of things. This is the Army's latest bulletin, which seems unrelated:

"Drop safe,” Cohen explained, “Those two words don’t exist together. No gun is drop safe. It’s a function of angle, height and surface. If you build it completely drop safe, you legitimize mishandling. Inherently guns are not meant to be dropped, and are unsafe when dropped.”

I wonder if the slide is getting moved back a bit in the holster and this is tripping the sear....

That's discouraging. I purchased a 2020 built 320 carry solely because my employer went to the platform.

Luckily nobody has ever filed a bogus lawsuit for the money, and nobody has ever blamed the gun for an ND....

Still, I'd like to see it replicated before I pronounce it as a fact rather than an allegation.
