Purpose of holes in Daniel Defense Lite Rail?

What is the purpose of the holes within the rail sections of the original Daniel Defense Lite Rail? The one between R19 and R21 in the image. Is this a mounting point of some kind?

Likely just to lighten up the light rail.

Perhaps so. I figured there would be more of them if that were the case.

They're threaded right? For equipment that has the threaded mounting hardware like camera gear?

The RIS/II rails are threaded but it’s a two-piece design and has a hanger for an M203 I believe.

Pretty sure he's messing with you guys. They're lightening holes. Pretty much every rail has lightening cuts of some kind.

They're speed holes, they make the rail go faster.
