Got me thinking....I’ve been on this forum for quite awhile. In all my time I don’t ever recall seeing someone from Colt (from upper admin position) respond to any posts or answer any consumer questions. That right there says how they feel about the consumer.

Reps from a lot of other fairly large AR companies respond on this forum fairly frequently.

Colt is very content leaving the consumer to be an afterthought.

Colt has always been a military focused company and focuses on the military consumer (primarily).

They have recently made some small strides with civilian offerings / focus with the 6920 OEM1/2, 6920-R Trooper, and CCU offerings - but it's all rather piecemeal and definitely 'hind teat' sort of stuff.

The farther out you mount the light, the less shadowing you get. If you look at this setup, you will still get a bit of barrel shadowing.

There are plenty of companies that flat out do NOT want to engage in online forums due to the damage it can cause. Colt doesn't respond to anything or pay for a section on arfcom either. The Avilas charged everyone else, but put a Colt forum there in an apparent effort to make it look like Colt sponsored them (which they did not). While I do not feel that arfcom has close to the knowledge base this board does, it doesn't change that it is a very large forum, which is why Brownells purchased it.

Sadly, there are a lot of people who are less than becoming when they hit their keyboard and post to the internet. Bad PR is a given for almost any company at some point when they dance with the devil.

Personally, I strongly guess (is that a thing?) that they had these for the past year and just held on to them until prices came back.
I would like to know if that is a complete Colt factory item, or if it is mainly Colt parts (and I don't mean the rail). Everything is listed as Colt except the gas block, and it wouldn't be the first time a company bought a bunch of something, made mods to make it more sell-able (like pulling a FSB), and then put it on the market. I'm not saying they did, but I'm not saying they didn't either. Regardless of the case, I still like the upper, though the ones I have like that are all Centurion Arms.

Fair point, but I do think Grant was selling some similarly Colt/Centurion cool combos last year or so. Factory Colt, I believe.

It's advertised as coming with the Colt factory box. The gas block is a shaved FSB which you can see when you zoom in. They are selling a Colt 6920 upper as well though with a cheapy Blackhawk quad rail as well with factory box so who knows.

Doesn't the 6920 Trooper model leave the factory with a Centurion rail?

Yes, the 6920-R Trooper, 6920-EPR (one iteration), and 6960 Colt Combat Unit all were models with Centurion handguards. Grant (and if the linked upper above is also factory/genuine) had some unique uppers with non-M-LOK Centurions, pinned MD’s, etc.
