    Chinese "Wolf Warrior" movies

This is a series of Chinese-made movies in which the valiant Chinese military defeats the Western (in this case, apparently Australian) forces of evil. Sort of a "Chinese Rambo-ish" theme, I guess. Are those some sort of Chicom SIGs in use?

I get enough propaganda from CNN. Don't need any from the CCP.

I just can't "do" movies where I can tell there's nothing in any of the gear all the guys are wearing.
But hey, if the Chinese want to make their version of "merica" movies, well more power to them. Maybe one day they'll actually turn out something decent, given the way they're buying up the movie industry.

So far all they've managed to do is F over the Hong Kong action film genre. And when Chinese people can no longer make a decent kung fu movie, you know things are getting out of hand. It's like trying to imagine Texas without any decent barbecue joints.

Might I offer up the Ip Man series? Super fun, old-school kung fu.

Richly fictionalized narrative. Donnie Yen while an accomplished WuShu artists understands little about Wing Chun or practical forms of Chinese boxing. Heavy reliance on CGI "Matrix" effects vs. letting Donnie Yen actually perform real world skills.

Jet Li made the last real "kung fu" movies, it ended with Romeo Must Die.

For most of his life Yip Man was a police officer and the only martial arts he taught was some basic skills to other officers. Never in his life did he fight a Japanese officer or any Japanese occupational force. Yip was an officer in the Kuomintang during the war and when they lost the war in the mainland he went to Hong Kong.

Yip Man ran a modest and largely unsuccessful school in Hong Kong and didn't achieve any notoriety until he became famous as the teacher of Bruce Lee. Unfortunately he died in 1972 almost a year before Lee's own death so he didn't have much of an opportunity to capitalize on his new fame. Yip Man achieved most of his fame after death due to students such as William Cheung, Bruce Lee, Leung Ting and to some extent his two sons who helped popularize Wing Chun globally.

So if you know nothing about the man or his style, Ip Man is a acceptably well made film, but for me it's harder to enjoy and each installment was worse than the one before it. China is pimping pure fiction about a man who was forced to leave China due to the communists.

It's also hard to see Donnie Yen (son of Bow Sim Mark) restrained by CGI effects, while mostly a WuShu artists (the communist form of kung fu that relies heavily on gymnastic skills and is presented as an exhibition art), he is still very talented and more than capable of demonstrating impressive skills. It would have been better if he was cast as almost anyone else.

In his younger days he would have been a passable Bruce Lee and a giant improvement over Danny Chan who provided a complete mockery of Lee in both Ip Man 4 and the Chinese mini series "The Legend of Bruce Lee."

I like the old David Chiang and "Jimmy" Wang Yu "one armed swordsman" sagas.

Riots are like sports, it's better to watch it on TV at home.

Ahhh the classics. Although I'm probably partial to the Zatoichi sagas when it comes to impaired swordsmen.

Yup, of the 6mm BB airsoft type. You can see the brass liner in the barrel.
