    Bren2---any reason to skip?

    Guys,

I have been thinking about picking up a Bren 2 in 556. Other than you like Ar-15s and it ain't an Ar-15 (I have an AR-15) why not get it. Specifically I am looking at the pistols.

    Any problems?

    Any know issues?

Not sure what aftermarket options are out there but I personally would prefer a longer handguard. Of course if you got the 8" barrel that would be a moot point but definitely for the 14".

GIGN just adopted it but in 7.62x39, and they are a switched on bunch of cops.

It's the closest thing to the HK433.

Just remember the 7.62 uses proprietary mags, not AK, and they currently are unobtainium.

Are you sure they're proprietary? They look like 7.62x39 AR15 magazines. Even if they are proprietary, does anyone know if 7.62x39 AR15 magazines will work in a Bren 2?

Serious question: why would anyone want a short-barreled 7.63x39? It's not like it's moving that fast even out of a 16" barrel AK.

The only reason to have a short-barrel 7.62x39 is the only reason to have a short-barrel anything: It’s lighter and more compact.

You're not loosing anything in having a short barrel. I believe the difference between 8 and 16 inch barrel is only about 200 fps

Jut an FYI, but HB industries makes a Bren 2 7.62x39 AR mag adapter for like $18 bucks. I know 7.62x39 AR mags aren’t everybody’s favorites, but it’s a cheap and easy fix until the unobtanium CZ mags are more plentiful.
