I've used multiple comps and flash hiders on ARs both on my guns and friends' guns.
I'm not a fan of concussion toward the shooter, it's stupid and any minimal reduction in recoil and accuracy gain is negated by hot gas blasted back toward you. Just my opinion.
Read about the AFAB, but nobody near me had one. So I TOFF and picked one up figuring I'd sell it after finding out it's "meh".
Except it's not. It's an excellent muzzle device and lives up to it's rep.
It's not much louder than an A2, which I shot with it back to back. The side concussion is definitely greater than an A2, but nothing the shooter feels.
No clue on flash reduction as 1. I don't care about flash reduction for my purposes 2. I only shoot during the day as I haven't done a night shoot in over a decade with ARs. Some of the shootout flash hider tests put it at just a bit more than the A2, but you'll have to trust them on it as I haven't done any testing myself for flash.
Recoil management is where it gets interesting. Completely flat with both .223 bunnyfart and 5.56 NATO rounds. Not a downward push like the older comps and not Left/Right issues at all. The muzzle just sits where you left it each time after pulling the trigger. Makes me wonder if the EFAB would be good on a bolt gun (I prefer cans on bolt guns).
It's literally just sitting there after firing with the red dot in the same place I left it after each shot (offhand 20 yards, dinner plate sized target). The muzzle stability with this muzzle device is better for my technique/gun than any other MD I've used before. Yes, other MDs do noticeably better at recoil reduction but the non-moving flat shooting, not wandering muzzle after each shot seals the deal for me with this MD.
For anyone that wants basically an A2 birdcage that is one ounce heavier and 1/3" longer but offers good recoil reduction and GREAT muzzle stability, this is a great choice. I do not work and am not associated with PA. I got it through Brownells (because Midway CS has burned me twice) and installed using their recommended Accuracy-washer system which works well.
Sorry no pics, too hot to stop and take pics, wasn't expecting to post but after 2 great range trips (one time with an A2, one time by itself) I wanted to share.
