And here from a distance, but you can see the sparks/flashes at the base of the smoke before more fire flares up, then kablooey.

There was a fire in a warehouse BEFORE the explosion, and I believe that was the fireworks warehouse.

So they are saying improper storage of confiscated ammonium nitrate.

That's possible. The problem is ammonium nitrate is one of the most popular ways to make large target explosives (ANFO). It's very similar to what was used in the Oklahoma City bombing. If terrorists knew there were stored stockpiles of AN, they could have detonated a smaller device knowing it would trigger that larger stockpile and it would have been impossible to tell the difference without an extensive investigation.

Looks a bit too low tech for an Israeli hit IMO. I'm going with Jihad on Jihad attack or horrible accident (horrible only to the extent that innocent people were certainly involved). But given that they embrace Hezbollah my sympathies are limited only to innocent people in the vicinity.

    I still remember 1983.

2750 tons of ammonium nitrate, catches fire an eventually detonates. Grain silos in blast area, ag area maybe chosen for storage (speculating). This has happened here in the US several times.

Interestingly enough, from your source the 1924 Nixon Nitration works explosion is the family of Capt. Nixon from Band of Brothers fame.

Where I said that they don't always lie is in actual factual, non political, non Trump, non ideological reporting. Ie: "There was a large explosion in Beirut." That is an actual factual report, even though it is from CNN. Their quote of a Lebanese source as to the nature of the explosion, is also one of those actual factual non-ideological reports.
Ok, I was wrong. They got "there was a big explosion" correct. Apologies.

2750 tons of "Previously confiscated 6 years ago" ammonium nitrate? Yea...ok. Making quick calcs, that is about (24) 40' open top containers full. That's ridiculous.

Usually this stuff burns for a while prior to detonation, video is consistent with this, large fire plume prior to detonation. Cargo ships pop like this, and the fact it happened in a port fits ammonium nitrate also. The large structure that looks like silos probably amplified the shock wave into the city, again much speculating but it fits.
