I sent an email to the Wisemen company regarding the legality of the split fix when it was first offered for sale. I had second thoughts after ordering one. I asked if they had an approval letter from the ATF.

The response was quite negative, argumentative. They insisted it was not a modification and claimed to have no idea what I was talking about. "Noah" replied that he was canceling my order because I was "concerned about something that wasn't an issue".

If it is to be used only for transport I guess we're supposed to take it off when we get to the range, reinstall it for the drive home

I think the SBR laws, brace laws are a bunch of nonsense. I don't have enough money to become a test case. I'll leave my brace as is

This is not an issue. If I separate the upper from the lower beforehand, I can remove the strap and install a replacement without committing a violation.

(Does this mean braces such as the Shockwave & Tailhook, which have no straps, are illegal to use on pistols?)

Did you remove your Split Fix before firing your pistol?
Of course not. Removing the strap is a prohibited modification.

    ATF ruled it illegal.
I do. As you say, the ATF ruled it illegal for use on a pistol.

I have to edit here to correct a typo. Originally I wrote "The ATF has passed the same for the Split Fix." What I meant to say is "The ATF has NOT ruled the Split Fix illegal for use on a pistol."

    You do you.

I dealt with a douche bag like that once. It was to me a clear sign she knew she was in the wrong and didn't want other customers hearing my entirely valid concern when I was less than politely told to leave. I want nothing to do with such people. Thanks for keeping me away of this group and their products.

To add a response to the OP, I had both the sba3 and the sba4. I prefer the sba4 and have switched all my pistols to that. It has much less flex and is less of a hook to snag things.

I have the A3. Just tried the A4. I agree with the above. Buy the A4

SBA4 would pair well with an A5 buffer tube.

With some LOP limiters thrown in, absolutely. Right now my "pre-pistol mockup" is rocking an M4 on an A5 Pistol tube, but I've been toying with switching to Regular A5/A4. Then again, I use a brace as more a rear-end counterweight and magazine carrier than a point of contact... so in my case the A4's adjustment system might interfere with keeping a 40 shoved up the tunnel.

Should followup and give an update. I got the SBA4 and absolutely love it. My only other AR pistol is the old school Sig Brace and the SBA4 is literally better than every way. I find it firm, stable and comfortable.

The Angstadt Arms pistol 9 has been 100% reliable through about 500 rounds. This is my first PCC and its amazing how much better and more accurately I shoot it compared to my Glock 17. Getting 5 shots touching at 25 yards is pretty easy with the Angstadt Arms 9 and I can't do that with my Glock ever. Also love that it uses my Glock magazines and has LRBHO.
