So I have one of the few LC kits that made it in that weren’t snatched up by a builder in my closet collecting dust. I really should do something with it.

That looks nice. I have the Cetme-L and have been debating in my head whether to get the LC or not. $2k is a bunch to sink in to a rifle that's well past it's prime, but the collector/hoarder in me really wants one.

Any idea what's new about the Gen 2 version that Marcolmar is showing on their website?

I believe the Gen has been skipping for a long time and they just resolved some issues with the early guns.

Man, that's really cool. Thanks for making this!

The Cetme L is cool because it's a 5.56 roller delayed blowback rifle that weighs significantly less than an HK-93.

    Bret,

Marcolmar focused especially on receiver changes to ensure proper function with AR15 magazines, as the originals used a slightly different proprietary mag. On the Gen 2, Marcolmar opened up the magwells a little more to better accept polymer AR15 mags, switched to a higher grade Cerakote, and started using a darker green for the green rifles.

I remember seeing a picture of this rifle when I was 18, right after learning that I could own such a thing. I thought it was the coolest looking rifle I'd ever seen, and was instantly crushed when I found out you couldn't get one here and that they'd probably never be available. Now, not only can we have one, we can have one that functions better than an original. I want one!

Didn't the actual Spanish guns have more than a few design flaws that resulted in lots of failures?

Not something I'd want a reproduction of. It's a neat looking gun, but I think we are relying on a building to product improve something that wasn't terribly reliable in the first place. You can't just scale down from .308 to .556 and make it work.

Also if you are trying to make a CETME bolt face interface with an AR magazine you are asking for problems, that is why the HK33 / 93 doesn't take AR magazines. It's why the MP5 wasn't designed to work with Uzi or Walther magazines.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

The reason for having one of these rifles isn't to have the best most modern design. It's to have a piece of firearms history. I don't know what to say about the CETME bolt face interfacing with AR15 magazines other than to say that Marcolmar made it work. Mine runs 100%.
