The price for the AP5 pistol makes no sense. Around three++ years ago I paid just under $1200, for a POF.

Even more absurd, the MKE's now brought in by Century Arms dealer price at several hundred dollars ABOVE what factory HK SP5s dealer price for. Never mind that the MKEs never were and never will be exactly the same quality as HK, never mind that since the initial first couple of batches from way back when MKE's have been have QC issues that Zenith was constantly trying to address and I don't see Century Arms doing anything better.

POFs at half the price of a factory HK make some kind of logical sense, sure quality won't be the same but it is a contract rifle rather than a clone and half price makes it worth considering.

But what it really tells us is that Hans and Franz at HK need to get off their ass and start cranking out SP5s and SP5k-PDWs because they are missing out on a huge part of the market share. This isn't like SIG where they are the only game in town and want to maintain a price point on their 553 imports.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

    Why imports are drying up

A manufacturer and or importer is taking a financial risk importing items in transit with the current fraud. The guv will soon pull the plug and someone will have to return the pallets of items to the origin, donate to the guv, or destroy.

When the plug is pulled - the process to return the product will require additional paperwork and permits with the eu, custom’s bonded warehouse storage fees, brokerage fees, return freight fees, the cost to re-engrave the items, replace manuals and papers and additional overhead fees.

    I bought this Z-5P

in May of 2016 for just under $1600 delivered to my FFL. After owning: HK91 - HK93 - HK94 - HK SP89 - HK P7M8 - HK USP40 - HK P9S .45 (3) and a ‘WILD’ Bill Flemming HK94 converted to MP5 A3 specs I finally decided I needed a shooter. The Zenith is my go to and now has way over 3K rounds through it with and without a suppressor. I should have bought 3 of them.

Century is ripping off buyers, by asking stupid money for a cheap product. Century raised the floor for both the MKE and POF. It’s good news for you.

Well, I guess we dodged a bullet on an EO import ban. Still waiting. About ready for a two month check in with my LGS to see what if anything is happening.
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.

The MKE HK clones are quality products. I have a couple that were imported by Zenith and couldn't be happier with them. Century is taking a short term mentality in a hot market. Buyers will remember and will show no loyalty.

Some are quality. A lot have been junk. I had a great one, a couple friends have had duds. Even on their best day, they don't hold a candle to my German guns. The fit and finish isn't on par, and the metallurgy is inferior (much softer than German guns.)

I paid about $1,500 for each of mine. That makes them not being H&K easier to accept. Century's prices wouldn't make me feel as good. I guess I got lucky with mine as they've both been 100%.

Same, and they were a screaming deal at that price. The later guns crept up in price and varied widely in quality.
