In other words when at an indoor range if person A is shooting a suppressed Uzi to the left of you and person B is shooting a suppressed MP5 to the right of you...which one is louder to you?

Uzi has a slower cyclic rate so that makes it a bit quieter but the massive bolt more than offsets the difference. Also the rollers on an HK bolt seem to make a smoother cycle which also makes the MP5 quieter.

I think the MP5A2 is probably the quietest SMG suppressed that I've ever fired. It's why I never felt the need to actually get a MP5SD because the trade off in weight and ballistic performance didn't justify the additional suppression.

And I know from talking to the Gemtech crew that a lot of this is subjective and even with sound meters, if they aren't set up right and under the right conditions you achieve almost any number you want.
It’s definitely subjective. I do put more stock in my own (excellent) hearing over numbers.

Bolt chatter is minimal on the Uzi because of advanced primer ignition. It’s not the telescopic bolt, it’s the advanced primer ignition that softens the blow of the gigantic heavy bolt.

Now I’m doing the Pepsi challenge. It’s been awhile since I fired all side by side.

You just said something that finally got all the way through. I wasn't tracking the first time.

I've done a lot of Uzi next to MP5 and I always seem to notice the Uzi is a bit nosier. When doing subgun 101 I always start people on the Uzi and move them to the MP5 simply because I think the Uzi (open bolt) gives people a more complete understanding of the concept of SMGs.

Maybe not. My wholesalers have still not gotten the original SP5k (not the PDW models coming out new) in stock yet and it's been what? 2 years? In the meantime they released to SP5 which I'd rather have and are in even greater demand and now I see they will be offering the SP5k-pdw. Not sure when these will be in actual stock.

Bigger distributors are just placing large orders and keeping them out of stock while they sell them on GB for full whack and then some.

I don't foresee the gun market settling down that quickly. But especially the H&K roller lock market. As SteyrAug noted, the SP5K wasn't easy to come by and that was during the "Trump Slump" as well as being a less desirable configuration.

SP5K was the easy one, standard SP5 is the one I could never snag under $2500. I could get SP5Ks for around $2200 locally (Missouri at the time) for a good 6 month stretch. Lowest Ive seen the SP5 locally was $2700, and I never should have passed.

My SP5k-PDW arrived this morning. It is a small booger, I can’t wait for the weather to break so I can get some range time in with it.

They were out there but ALL in the secondary market which means I never got a crack at one at dealer price despite being a FFL. I had a chance to grab one from Atlantic and while Blaine is a great guy I can't in principle pay discount retail when I have a FFL. But this is how it goes with limited production / high demand items.

Pics and comments? Where did you get it?

    It's that simple.

I got it from Top Gun Supply. I just happened across it as they posted it online. It’s fit and finish are excellent. I am awaiting the weather to cooperate to shoot it and see how it does. Here is a photo I took for my IG with the SP5K-PDW, SP5, and my Sidewinder with Gemtech universal 3-lug mount.
