The UMP is a lot of interesting ideas, but I think a MP5/45 patterned after the MP5/10 - MP5/40 would have been superior.
I never had that problem. It ate Gold Dots. The mags are pretty big though. I mean as a duty gun I liked it. The folding stock was comfy and the bolt release was handy.

I get why people like the MP5 but from a guy just using it as a popo gun; the UMP was just less hassle. The MP5 may be a Porsche but the UMP is a Crown Vic.

Good to know. Also these are like two grand. I thought they were like 1200.

I dunno. Kind of a threshold on pistols. For the money I could do a shorty AR. Still might get one for hogging. If that trigger can go to 4 lbs I can make it go BRRRRT just working it. Especially if it will eat some cocky 147 grs

I love my MP5's and my UMP equally well. There is a place for all of them.

UMPs drive me crazy because there is no co witness and the irons aren't nearly as nice as diopters. I feel like I can run a MP5 with no red dot and just a white light, I don't feel the same about the UMP.

Now when the UMP came out, before I had one, I lusted after it for 10 years after reading a review in Soldier of Fortune. And maybe that's the problem, I might have built it up in my mind and then it failed to live up to expectations.

And there are few instances where I would take a UMP over a MP5. Now I would take a UMP over just about any other .45 PCC / SMG I can think of off the top of my head and I wouldn't be thinking "Oh I'm screwed I have the UMP or anything", I just prefer the MP5 for most applications. Decades of time with it probably has as much to do with it as anything.

I actually do pretty well with mine. It's LOUD as F, but the trigger isn't a problem.

The TP9 was hands down my most disappointing firearms purchase. Especially with the dedicated suppressor, which is loud and extraordinarily GASSY. The trigger sucked but was the least of my issues with that gun.

I still like mine as an ultra compact 9mm SBR. It's a little handier than the MP5k-PDW and made for optics and lights. It's iron sights are useless so I don't notice the loss the way I do with the MP5 series. With a VFG and a red dot it's dead on. I never even noticed the trigger but I doubt it's heavier than the MP5.

But yeah man, LOUD. Mine has a blast enhancer that is even worse than a Y comp brake on an AR. I thought with a Rotex suppressor it would be a lot better but then I shot one with a suppressor and was like WTF?!? Still loud and with a suppressor that costs about as much as the host gun.

Not sure what they were thinking with that. At this point I'd be happy with a practical flash suppressor.

I really like the TP9N. It’s my favorite of the b&t lineup. The can is really high volume, coaxial. I don’t find it to be too loud. It is gassy AF though.

So I have one of the older versions imported by DSA, do they make any kind of muzzle device for it?

Yours looks to have the standard b&t muzzle that accepts their dedicated can.

Given that their dedicated can is an overpriced and under performing piece of crap...is there anything else? If that Rotex had MP5SD characteristics I'd already own one, but it was sad. Taming a 9mm is basic suppression 101.

Wondering if they made anything like a flash hider or something that would minimize the incredible blast they achieved. People at the range look at me like I've got some kind of .44 magnum autoloader.
