Maybe we should just treat people the way we want to be treated even if they hate and despise us. Of course if I knew or had an inkling that they might use that gun for possible nefarious things I most certainly would deny it to them.

As a freelancer, I have all kinds of surcharges and service fees (not to mention that while my book rate is $30/hour, I normally cut people a break down to $20 or even for good charitable causes $15*, but some truly annoying schmucks have been billed at $60/hour) I can add on for clients who piss me off... not to mention that I insist any face-to-face meeting be over a meal on your dime. If I like you I'll let you off easy at Mickey D's with a Quarter Pounder... piss me off and it's Ruth's Chris or similar for the most expensive steak in town.
*I NEVER work free! In my experience paid contractors get okay treatment but volunteers stomped on, so what I do is charge a "pro forma" hourly and then donate it back afterward if I still believe in the institution and cause.

Years ago I had an AK I was trying to sell in a local classifieds site. I had a guy respond that he was interested. Like I usually do when I get interested responses on gun listings I did a quick google search of the guy’s name and email address.

Turned out the guy was some kind of radical militant leftist. I responded to his inquiry by telling him the rifle was no longer for sale.
The idea of arming someone I might end up trading shots with during hypothetical civil unrest didn’t sit well with me....and that was years before I had any inkling that in 2020 armed leftist militias would be a thing, and we’d be poised at the brink of an actual civil conflict in the this country.

Another time when I did a google search of a guy who wanted to buy a S&W Shield I was selling, and the ol’ google search of his email address indicated the guy was in his 60s and had been posting on some kind of weird craigslist-style gay hookup personals site.
I did still sell him the Shield though, because although it was kind of creepy, none of it was behavior that I considered to disqualify him from buying a gun from me.

I don't have a problem with it. I don't think it's morally wrong to deny selling guns to the very people who want to ban them. I wouldn't sell to anyone who I thought could be a threat to my safety or public safety because of their ideology. I'm not going to do business with a guy who is openly Neo-Nazi, or suggests that he sympathizes with Islamic terrorists.

Now, if someone who I knew was liberal said that they were getting a gun because they've switched sides on gun control and were also opposed to radical leftism and cancel culture, we can agree to disagree on other stuff, and agree that every law abiding citizen deserves the right to protect themselves.

1-2 years ago I would have taken the "high road," but given current events I think it's morally OK and just plain common sense not to sell to anyone who gives you ANY reason to think they would take biased action against you, or worse.

Now I know why Cheaper than Dirt isn't cheap at all - they're just trying weed out purchases by left wingers. True American Patriots and brilliant strategy.

You sure it's only left wingers, seems they're trying to weed out everybody.
