    Gracias!!
The Modlight heads require 18650 or 18350 batteries to run, and those batteries are larger in diameter than cr123s. Therefore, you must use a light body that accommodate 18650 and 18350 batteries, in addition to utilizing the (standard?) surefire scout light head and tailcap thread pitch.

The easiest way to explain the difference between 18650 and 18350 batteris is an 18650 is essentially 2 cr123s head to tail, and an 18350 is essentially 1 cr123.

Therefore, if you want to mimic a full sized surefire scout light like the m600u, you would want and 18650 body. If you wanted to mimic an m300c (or about any mini scout light), you would want an 18350 body.

All scout light tail caps are pretty much interchangable.

The kicker comes with making sure that the body can accept the larger diameter rechargable batteries. So, if you have a surefire m600u, you're SOL, because it can only accept cr123 batteries. But, if you have a surefire m600df, you can simply buy the modlight head of your choice, and replace the surefire head with it, as the body is specitically made to accommodate the larger diameter rechargable batteries (18650 & 18350).

Where to buy from, Arisaka, Modlite itself and BigTexOutdoors are good choices.

Thanks...got my head wrapped around it now & was thinking too hard that I was going to have to choose between a plethora of available bodies & the modlite heads were a complete separate purchasable option fitting on another brand's body as some aftermarket. I feel silly & an example of Ignorance is curable & stupid is forever being so lazy.

Anyway, What's the story on the 18650 batts seen on the modlite site?? Do they have an OTC p/n or just go get the CR123's local & back to back??

The batteries on Modlites site are insanely overpriced. I ordered 8 Samsung 30Q from IMRBatteries.com for about $35 shipped.

You cannot use two cr123 batteries in place of an 18650 or one cr123 in place of an 18350 batterie with modlite heads, the cr123s will not provide enough power. The comparison was for the sake of rough sizes, not equivalent power output.

You do not have to buy Modlite's batteries if you don't want to.

Modlight sells Keeppower brand 18650s, which are widely available from other sites.

    1000 lumen, 2xCR123 only m600u.

Newest version of the m600u: 1000 lumens and 11,300 candela.

Old version of the m600u: 600 lumens and 16,500 candela.

You can use about anyone's 18650 battery you want, Surefire, Streamlight, Nitecore, Keeppower, Fenix.

I personally like the usb recharble ones more than the ones that require a docking station.

Well, Modlite recommends you do not use anything below an 8 A discharge rate, which many 18650s don't meet; for example, the SureFire 18650As are only rated for a 6 A discharge rate, while there are many KeepPower models that don't meet that minimum either (NCR18650G, P1835U, etc.). They may work in a pinch, but there's definitely the possibility of damaging the battery if it even works at all.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
