AK-74s have a reputation for having better accuracy than the 7.62x39mm guns.

Trouble is that there are a lot more good options in 7.62x39mm in this country than 5.45x39. And most of the 5.45 ammo that’s imported any more is garbage. Of course, so is most of the 7.62x39. More to the point, there is no Lapua 5.45x39. Nor is there Winchester or Federal or GECO or Fiocchi. And I haven’t seen Hornady 5.45 in ages.

Yeah, when ATF declared 7N6 and other 5.45 rounds armor piercing we lost availability of a lot of good ammo. But Red Jacket firearms rat fvcked us when they made a AK-74 pistol and opened that door.

You can still buy Wolf which isn't very bad, Hornady is still in production but playing catch up. And as long as Bulgarian rifles still come in places like Tula will still knock out ammo for it. Eventually it might go the way of Swiss 7.5mm where it was cheap everywhere and then gone, but I'm hoping I can stock it deep enough that it won't be a problem for me.

I also wonder how long FN 5.7mm is going to be readily available. That could easily become the next .41 Action Express round without much difficulty.

GT and the Red Army Vympel, which is renamed GT, are pretty good.

I've always wondered why these guys can't make the same commercial ammo as the 7n6 just without the "steel core"
