I wouldn't count on that, particularly for something like laminated auto glass. Beyond that, there is the problem of the fact that it does have so much mass; overpenetration is a serious issue to consider as a civilian. So, you could end up with the worst of both sides, poor barrier penetration, but also overpenetration with unobstructed shots (e.g., SMKs).

Agreed. .308 is best for outside shooting or rural areas.
