On the other hand, that may not interest you. Good luck.

I have the 64grain GD on my HD weapon.

I'm interested in everything you and Mark type. I don't know if I can get it to 2500. But I got a magnetospeed today, so load workup with velocity will be easier now. I wonder if they aren't using Magnum primers and mixed or special powder.

Would you do the load work in the 11.5 or 16"?

Another question for Mark and pb. Would the 62gr Hornady hpbt be a decent option for this gun? I have 1500 of them. And I can't get the 16" to shoot them

I always work up/test on a 20" barrel for apples to apples comparison. But since Pappabear had the 10.5 velocity, I'd run the 11.5 and see if you can get near 2500. With the extra 1 inch of bbl, you should be able to get up to 2450 or so depending on powder.

Never really used the 62 for anything other than bulk practice. But they should shoot good out of an 11.5"

I have an 11.5” barrel and I get around 2475 FPS. With the same load, I get 2700 FPS in my 16”. Both are BCM barrels. That load is with Varget.

With TAC I can add 50 FPS but it blows primers on hot days.

However, I have switched to loading with 8208XBR. It meters better than either and is more temperature stable than TAC. I haven’t yet chronographed it in the 11.5” but it does hit 2750 FPS in the suppressed 16” barrel and I have seen no blown primers or other pressure signs on the hottest days I’ve shot this year and last, around 100 degrees F.

I intend to start playing with a 12.5” barrel in the future; a “mini-Recce”.

100 yds, 77 gr OTM CBC/Magtech group circled (after windage adjust.).
Couple rds. of 75 gr. GD below group.
The CBC chrono'd 2450+- FPS, the 75 gr. GD ran 2380 +- FPS.
I can. and do. shoot either interchangeably to 200 yds.

This from 11.5" Sionics, an 11.5" BCM is same in regards to group(s).
A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.

Paul Harrell recently tested a few different loads comparing them in 10.5" and 20" barrels for velocity, and effect at 200 yards on the meat target. He was getting 2240 fps with 77gr SMK BTHPs out of the 10.5", and expansion at 200 yards.

This video makes my brain hurt. You CANNOT make any terminal ballistics conclusions from shooting fruit and pork ribs.

You’re exactly right. Paul Harrell must be smart enough to know this...but it’s evident a large portion of his viewers aren’t.

Living tissue and butchered meat are not the same. Not even close.

You guys don't like Paul's meat target vids???.....I'll be damned.

Obviously not live targets, but there is still some useful feedback.

Is there an online resource where we can see live tissue results from the 77gr SMK from an 11.5" barrel, at 200 yards?

If there is, please share a link. Thanks.
