    Federal Syntech Action Pistol?

Federal Syntech Action Pistol (not Syntech Defense) uses flat point lead bullets with polymer jackets rather than metal. Do they behave differently from FMJ bullets?

Generally dont need as much powder to get the same velocity.

The lead is generally harder .

But function is pretty the same.

The 2 different 9mm, pistol and PCC

They're been entirely reliable in my 9mm firearms.

Work great in my pistols (Sig P320-X5 and CZ75 Phantom) that I've tried.
I stopped using them in my PCC even though they have a "PCC" 130gr load. The coating kept coming off in my Wilson AR9G - never got a response from Federal. Use only jacketed/plated or GOOD coated like DG Bullets.

Are those powder coated or more like their old Nyclad hollow point coating, just red instead of navy blue?

Best way to describe it is that its like melted synthetic plastic over the lead. Very similar to Nyclad. Also comes in a purple color-mimicking HST velocities. There is also a blue hollow point. One main observable advantage is a cooler barrel compared to brass with the same round count. Much cleaner barrel afterwards also.

these rounds have very low recoil and I have had zero stoppages in a couple cases through Glocks and Berettas.

I've used Federal 9mm loads with a purple coating. I think they might be 147 gr but I forget.

They have that truncated shape and work fine from my G19.

They feel slightly hotter than "standard" fmj and other 147 gr practice ammo.

The 150 gr. is mainly meant for competitive shooters, I think, because of points or something. The factory specs on it show it's probably downloaded a bit as the 147gr Syntech is like 50fps+ faster - shouldn't be that big of a difference for 3gr of bullet weight, unless it's downloaded.

That said, I've fired hundreds of the 147 and 150gr through multiple guns with no issues. I'm skeptical of their "cleans the barrel" claims. I use it as a substitute when I can't find Speer Lawman because I believe they (Federal) use non-toxic primers in the Syntech line.
