    Best Basic Night Vision Scope...?

So it's been a long time since I bought one, last one was a Gen 1 ATN Paladin 10-15 years ago.

I notice there are a lot fewer options today than there was. I also notice that thermals are everywhere but still a bit out of my budget.

Right now the best candidate I'm seeing is the ATN X-SIGHT-4K PRO SMRT HD D/N 5-20X for about $700.

The ATN NVM14-3 MONOCULAR GEN 3 looks nice but is way more than I want to spend. I don't need something to co witness or mate up with a magnifier or anything like that. Just want something that will function as a NV replacement for a RDS where I will remove one and attach another. Looks like I can do QD rings with the ATN X-Sight.

But I haven't looked at whats available in years. Can I do better than the ATN X Sight for about the same or not much more money?

I'm still messing with a HUGE Gen 1 device so basically anything is probably an upgrade.

Maybe something like the SIONYX Aurora Black behind an RDS with NVD settings?
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

That's pretty much what I'm trying to avoid. I don't want multiple integrated systems. I also don't want a camera, I want a NV weapon sight and I want it to be an all in one.

At one point I might add an IR laser which will be visible through my NV weapon sight.

Correct me if I’m wrong but that device you linked is basically just a PVS14 and doesn’t have a reticle, correct? At least that’s what I see. Honestly I think the days of all in one NV scopes are over and now the options are a clip on NV device (CNVD) that you use in conjunction with a day optic/scope OR an all in one thermal scope. But be prepared to spend some coin for anything worth buying.

    Best Basic Night Vision Scope...?

I'd vote for an Armasight clip on for the price. Maybe buy one used. Like a CO-MR or CO-LR.

If actual light amplification matters, I would not go for anything less than gen 2 with the best specs you can afford. Or a halfway decent gen 3. Digital night vision can't yet hold a candle to analog.

It really depends on your budget.

I know you said you don't want any kind of add on, but a clip on which goes in front of your optic and retains zero would save you a lot of hassle with switching optics and rezeroing each time. Plus your day optic doesn't have to be night vision compatible when using a clip on in front of the optic.

Researching clip on night vision options.

Thanks. Might have to wait till thermal all in ones come down a bit more.

Looks like this could also be used as a hand-held monocular?
