Good choice on the Daly.
I bought my M4LE in April of this year. I lost count of rounds down the tube but it's up there pretty good now. I've shot many different types/brands of ammo (yes, even Wolf) with no malfuntions.
BTW. The exceptional finish, best of the nine AR's I own, is still as nice as I day I bought it.
RGT,
Did your get the black rubbed off at the shell deflector? Mine has about 500 rounds thru it (2 days at the farm) and I noticed yesterday that the black is starting to be removed.
I save money using AMSOIL full synthetic lubricants. Do you?

To keep mine looking good I took a little black electrical tape and cut it into a size that would cover the area where the shell deflector would be hit with a shell. Works good. I know, I am very picky.
I'm new to this rifle thing, and when I drop a grand on it....I feel a bit odd beeing proud of its "battle scars" recieved out on the farm...lol. I totally know what your saying though, and I concede too your point. I will stop acting like a wuss that only wants to polish his guns! I am still learning, more every day. Just grabbed another M4 last night (Stag 1L) for $850 brand new. So now I will put the Charles Daly away for my oldest son, I'll use the cheaper Stag Arms as my plinker, and I'll maybe buy a Charles Daly D-M4LE in a couple months for my younger son to have when he grows up. 3 Should be plenty.
I also want 3 American made, brand new, AK-47 clones. I have 1 now and love it! I can get AK-47 clones for about $375 each, so I want one for me and one for each of my boys. That way, no matter what happens with future bans and crap, I have my boys covered.

Here's another way to look at it. New guns are kind of like new cars. You try hard to keep them looking new but after the first ding or two things kind of ease up a bit and you start concentrating on keeping them running smooth.
