I wonder if weaponlights will ever get that cord-free charging system. You know like you set it down on that charging pad like those new phones. That may make things a bit nicer

That's an interesting idea for sure.

I appreciate the levity, and the conversation.

I cringe a little reading back to my original post. It is a stupid idea. All those options cost would >$100 on top of a $300 light, and it wouldn't be compact or possibly not as effective as a pistol light. I really should have made a thread just asking what the best options for rechargeable pistol lights were.

Inductive charging wouldn’t be that hard to pull off. A little extra length for the coil and circuitry. I doubt it would add enough to split the difference between 300 and 600 series lights.

If you can wait, Modlite is already developing a pistol light. It will fit in safariland holsters, and will likely run off of an 18350 battery. I have a couple of x300 lights, but I don't plan on buying any more pistol lights until the modlite option comes to market.

I'm gonna piggyback one of my own I've been toying with, a rail-mount fixed front sight with integral light and laser.
--G2-style body with integral 1913 mount, Surefire XM tailcap compatible
--front electronics section has laser and mount for a G2/6P-style head
--socket behind laser for standard AR front sight post; interchangeable modules for F-height, carry-handle and other compatibility options

10-15 years ago they were talking about integrating power and data lines into rails...

I'm not one of the "in the know" people, but there are already pictures on the interwebs of the light being tested. I saw a few on instagram, but I can take a look around and see if I can find it again. They aren't Cloud Defense, so once they are showing them publicly, they are likely pretty close to a release date.
