coronavirus threatens to upend what was expected to be a relatively smooth confirmation---- Sure, it was going to be smooth sailing, if it weren't for Trump and the 'Rona....
I don't think there's much to stop them. They can hold the hearing remotely. They don't even have to have a committee hearing at all. The infected senators don't have to be in the Senate chamber even to cast their votes. The fact is, at this point, there's very little the Dems can do except whine and stomp their feet. The only thing to worry about is pussy GOP senators using this an excuse to not cooperate with McConnell.

Things haven't started yet,so who knows, but the DEms are in a hard spot. If they play dead, it pisses off their base, plus it makes it harder for them to go nuclear later if they didn't fight like hell now. If they go all in, the Kavanaugh hearings went poorly for them, until Trump couldn't stand it and screwed up the good will gained from the dems being a-holes. I think the official dems will play it cool, and they will activate their fringe groups to raise hell- all with plausible deniability.
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.

Pussy GOP senators, congressmen/women and our previous presidential candidates are all to blame. If one doesn't like Trump and pointing fingers is necessary; point them at the excess of the dems with Obama and the broken promises of the GOP.

The difference is the Dems are seeking victory through conquest, while the GOP is seeking victory through compromise and appeasement. They think "socially liberal but fiscally conservative" is the key to victory because it will 1) supposedly appeal to more liberal areas and, by some miracle, turn Democrat strongholds red, 2) Appeal to conservatives, whom they are convinced put economic issues above ALL else; because our rallying cry as of late has been "You can take my guns, censor my speech, shut down my church, and kill all the babies you want, but I'd BETTER get a tax break!"

I think some are starting to get it, because they're seeing that the RINO strategy wasn't working, so there's no point in playing nice anymore. Hopefully enough of them feel that way.

Don't discount the Uniparty Wing, who want the same things but see their role as Kabuki Theater "Opposition."
