Longer stock for standard carbine RE

I have a friend that has a stock Colt 6940. He is a large man, around 6' 5", and wants a longer length of pull. All of the A5 systems are out of stock currently and he will buy one of those in the future. Are there any stocks that offer a longer LOP for a standard 4 position receiver extension?

Probably the LMT or Bravo SOPMOD until he can get an A5. I think an A5 tube gets him another inch. Heavy Buffers usually has them in-stock.

I think Magpul STR stocks will get you 14.2 inch length-of-pull using a standard M4 extension.

what about one of those buttpads that goes on the end of a stock? seems like a good temporary solution

I believe the Magpul ACS/ACS-L are the longest stocks they have that mount on a standard RE. The UBR 2.0 is noticeably longer than my SL paired with an A5 RE; I run it one click in to get approximately the same length as an SL all the way extended on an A5. Both the ACS/ACS-L and UBR have Magpul butt pads that add a bit more LOP.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

VLTOR EMOD is longer than an M4 for sure.

Here's another option: the Vltor ARM isn't a retractable stock, but it's an adjustable LOP 'fixed' stock. There's a plug that inserts into any of the adjustment holes on a carbine receiver extension that fixes the stock in place. The A1 length shown here has a LOP of just over 17.5" in it rearmost position. The A2 is about an inch longer. https://www.vltor.com/shop/ar/stocks/arm-rifle-stock/

I also just realized that I have a couple for sale at less than half MSRP - it's been a couple of years and I forgot about them!

That looks like a LOP of 17.5" rather than 15" to me. Between which two points are you measuring?

you're right - I had a brain fart and looked distance at the rear of the grip instead of from the trigger. thanks for pointing that out. original post corrected.

I would recommend the Magpul UBR gen 2 for your gargantuan friend. It is compatible with both A5 and standard carbine recoil systems.

The UBR Gen 2 is super nice. Solid. Might be a great balancer for him, too.
