    Who makes a steel-frame snub-nose .44?

It can be a magnum ( I wouldnt be firing magnums) but I'd like to have a .44 Special snub, steel frame, 5-shooter of 26-30 ounces unloaded.

I had a Gp100 .44 3-inch but I didn't care for it. Frame was too big and heavy and just wasnt efficient. They get 7 holes of .357 in the same cylinder.

I found the s&w 396, the Charter Bulldog, and the Taurus Tracker (no current short-barrels) but not much else.

Any other snub. 44's I'm missing?

Yep...these are only ones I know of. I have a '396 & its a great shooter but on the 'big & clunky' side...I assume you are wanting to carry?

Find a Dan Wesson in .44mag and put a snub barrel on it.
    Won’t be cheap,but you’ll have a shooter.

Yea. It seems every handgun I've had that is too big or heavy to carry goes away.

The only exception has been the Vz61.

The Charter Arms alloy sounds a bit light. (21 oz) But I'd buy one if I saw one. I like how they made the cylinder as small as possible.

The most I'd ever shoot from such a gun is a 200 gr Gold Dot at 850 fps. 95% would just be cowboy loads.

Upping the weight to 25-28 oz (same as the Ruger Sp101 2.25 and 3 1/16 in) would be the sweet spot for a snub .44 imo.

That's a thought but the 6 shot cyl would be wide and the gun would be pretty heavy. 38 oz?

Are you opposed to a single action. Freedom Arms has made some 5-shot .44 Specials with 3 1/2" barrels in the past. Weight was a little over 30 oz, iirc

I used to have the charter arms .44 special with the alloy frame.
It was pretty snappy with .44 special loads. Pretty similar to a .45long colt.

I didn’t like the factory grips so I tried a rubber Hogue grip. I love G10 so I switched to that instead.

    I also have a S&W Performance Center 627 2.5” 8 Shot 357 Magnum.

    Maybe if it were a break-top. 😎
