I like short-barrel .44s, and have a few; S&W 296, 24 3", 29 3", custom Redhawk 3", Blackhawk 3.75". Besides the Scandium 296, I think all of the others are bigger and heavier than you want. I have a round butt on my 3" Redhawk, so it conceals pretty well in a good holster, though. Look for a 696, or try to track down a 696 cylinder and hand and build one in your desired length on a 686. One day, when I build a couple of 696 Mountain Guns, I'll sell off the rest of the 696 parts I hoarded.
