Has anyone ever seen a drop in BB conversion for AR 15s?

So I've been loving my CMMG drop in .22 conversion for my AR, especially since this whole ammo shortage hit.

I also do airsoft training at home in the spare bedroom, but only for my Glock. The reason I haven't gotten a Mk18 airsoft rifle yet is I have my real Mk18 set up with incredibly expensive doodads that I couldn't afford to replicate on the airsoft rifle. Aimpoint, full power L3 PEQ, etc. and so forth.

So it dawned on me that there are .22 caliber pellets that could easily be fired through an AR barrel. And you could do it with a drop in conversion that would function in an identical manner to how many airsoft guns work. Just drop in a conversion bolt with chamber adapter, same as the 22 lr conversions, and then have a special 22 pellet magazine with the CO2 cartridge in it. Hammer strikes the bolt, which actuates the valve in the magazine, instant pellet rifle that you could shoot inside your house or apartment with no one being the wiser.

Might get some decent recoil out of it, too. I've shopped around for an airsoft M4, and they are capable running some pretty heavy buffers even off of green gas, to simulate recoil. I would imagine you could achieve similar recoil to at least the 22 lr, and maybe even exceed it.

Alright, industry people, there's the idea, so go work your magic and get back to me when you have one ready to sell!

Bonus points if you also launch 5.56mm airsoft BBs that don't cost anymore than the 6mm ones. That would be even better than 22 pellets. Unfortunately, they only seem to come in 6mm for the moment.

Nobody in their right mind is going to adapt a real life AR to shoot airsoft. The product liability is monstrous. That doesn't even touch on the technical issues with having the juice to cycle the action.

Wouldn't be any different than simmunitions.

Sounds like a better idea would be see about finding an airsoft upper to work with your lower. Or hell, just buy a springer airsoft M4, they're cheap at sporting goods stores.

Have seen my boys pelt each other with airsoft crap for hours without being able to cause any injuries (safety glasses required of course).

You are not going to tolerate someone tagging you repeatedly like that with simunition rounds before you want to kick their ass or run away.

Guessing you have no experience with the simunition rounds or you would know that...

Yeah I got lit up with simrounds a time or two. Waaaaaaay different than airsoft.

I mean it’s just about the closest you can get to actually being shot with relative safety.

No kidding. We used simunitions in our FoF training and I would always come away with nasty bruises.
