    Which Optic?

New Windham Weaponry AR-10 inbound. 16.5 in bbl. I have choice of:

    PA cyclops 1x prism
    Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 FFP EMDR
    Leupold Mark5HD 3.6-18

    What are your opinions?
    Fire in the Hole

What’s the mission? That will tell you. Some very different optics you’ve listed here.

    I personally wouldn't run any of these on a 16" 308 AR.

A LPVO is what I'd choose if I wanted magnification, but my 16" 308 has fixed irons, and I don't expect that to change any time soon.

Actually what is the mission is my problem. My current long range Gas gun is a Grendel 6.5. I am really looking at cqb and out to 300 yds. I lean to the 1x. Right now my 1-4 is on the FN 15. My choices are the spare optics, so to speak.

If you already own them - and I understand the concept - use whichever one you lean toward first, and change it out if it's not what you like. And if I had a $1500 optic sitting around unused, I'd probably use it before the $200 and $500 optics.

Of those options, I'd probably run the Leupold and buy an offset dot for anything close, but really a LPVO would be ideal for that setup and mission.

The Weaver is a really nice scope made in japan. That is probably what i would go with. If you want to use close up you could always piggy back an rmr/holosun to go along with it. I would also prob not use an ar10 for cqb

A LPVO would be optimal, but i understand you need to work with what you have. If the 1x4 you have on the FN is a stiener you could always move that to the AR10 and put the cyclops on the FN

I was going to suggest Weaver 1-5. However, since you already own it, put the Leupold on.
My 16" 308 has the Weaver 2-10 and the 1-5 is on my x39. Good line for the price but I'm sure not as nice to look through as the mk5.
