I just got some ammo delivered last night for some more range testing.

Blackhills 175 grain BTHP and Speer GD 168 grain. I know the Speer isn’t match ammo but it has always been a great performer for me in other calibers.

I’m going to order some GMM next payday.

Good choice--your Tikka deserves a NF NX8 or ATACR.

    I can’t afford an ATACR.

I did however find another excellent deal at Eurooptic. I may have to move farther away from them just to keep me from going there.....

Nightforce NX8 2.5-20x50 FFP with Digilum. I went into this knowing the illumination won’t be daylight bright. However, it will be perfect for my applications when hunting and it’s dusk/dawn time. One thing I really like about the illumination is that you can change it from red to green.

Hopefully I’ll get some range time tomorrow and get this new scope zeroed. I bought a couple more different types of match ammo, Lapua 175 grain Scenar being one of them.

Now mind you, I’m no snipersuperSEALCAGRaidersnakeeatingsupershooter type person. I just like to shoot and enjoy the challenge.
If you are going to hunt with it, go with 3.5, if range use 5.5 IMO

It’s going to be an everything rifle. That’s why I went with the 2.5-20x50. It keeps me in with FFP scopes that I’m using now as well as MOA adjustments. Plus the reticle for this is the MOAR which I like a lot as it’s not too busy.

    Another Range Day

Black Hills 175 Gr. BTHP. That’s a 20 round group at 100 yards off a bag, no rear rest.

Lapua 175 Gr. BTHP Scenar-L, 20 round group, same setup.

    That should work nicely.

    Couple Questions

The last thing I need is to get into an even more expensive shooting hobby. I guess it’s too late for that.....

I’m looking at a new chassis for this rifle. Nothing wrong with the one it’s in but I was looking at a more streamlined, slightly lighter chassis that uses AI based magazines. My research has lead me to the XLR Element 3.0 chassis.

Question 1: Anyone have experience with them, likes, dislikes etc?

The muzzle brake that comes with the Tikka is less than ideal. Again, trying to streamline the rifle.

Question 2: Thread pitch is 5/8x24, is it possible to use a surefire brake on this rifle?

I use XLR Element chassis on a Tikka CTR and like it.

I use Surefire breaks on both of my Tikkas.

Look into the aftermarket trigger springs. Turns OEM trigger into a match grade deal.

Do you have any recommendations on specific aftermarket springs?
