    Always Check Your Ammo

I ran training and qualifications this past week for the department. I have a habit of always feeling and looking at the rounds before loaing and noticed these two. Both are factory loaded ammo, and the one on the right is not a 40 caliber wadcutter. You can see where the machine actually crimped it after was loaded backwards.

Recent shotgun class guy discovered couple of slugs in his box of birdshot....

Factories produce tens of millions of rounds a year, even with a .5% failure rate....thats a lot of bad ammo.

We had a bunch of factory practice reloads that had some extra powder every so many rounds. Could feel it as it blew the base of the cases open.

That's scary. With factories being under so much pressure to produce right now, they might be going a little too fast. Food for thought.

Save that rifle round. If I'm not mistaken, that's for shooting around corners.

Good reminder. Were these bulk packed or in boxes?

Our problem ammo was in 50 round boxes (we got 1200 rounds per year for practice) & was pre-ordered by our dept & this was around 5-6 years ago.

Do you mind sharing the manufacturer?
