People on the left always have a new 'plan', they always have the urge to keep changing stuff and coming up with clever names for things. The Great Reset is the same old stale contents in a new package. The beliefs of leftists--or 'progressives' as many American leftists who are not extremists call themselves--boil down to a few core ideas that are always there despite the constant deceptive repackaging and renaming of their agenda.
* The belief that all is change, LIFE is change. Everything is in flux, all the time. There is no fixed reality in the physical world, there is no fixed reality in the metaphysical world. There is no fixed "truth" that cannot be changed. This idea was expressed earliest by the Greek philosopher Heraclitus, was later picked up by Buddhism and others. Like all good lies, there's *some* truth to it (observable physical things in nature do seem to be in constant flux--but even there problems arise, for example various scientific laws, constants in mathematics, etc.). But there are serious problems with this belief when applied to the metaphysical world. The idea that there is no truth, quickly unravels notions that we hold dear like the ideas embedded in our founding documents. For instance: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness." Our founders believed--and if we wish to preserve our liberty and rights, we *must* believe--that these truths are true, real, eternal, and unchanging. I believe these truths come from God, as the founders stated. Leftists believe that there ARE no eternal unchanging truths, including those expressed in the bill of rights.
* The belief that collectivism as the best way to organize society. They don't view individual liberty as being all that important; far more important, to them, is the idea that we need to tightly control every aspect of human society in order to continue "progress." They will happily dispense with nearly everything that the founders of the US, and us as their intellectual descendants, hold dear. Your freedom. Your property. Your life. None of these things are sacred to 'progressives' and leftists, all must give way to the collective, the herd, the hive. To make an omelet you have to crush a few eggs. To make a "good" society (that is, a society organized around leftist priorities), you must subscribe to the notion that your own life, and other individual lives, ultimately don't matter much. You exist to serve the state. As the Borg used to say in Star Trek:
The Great Reset is simply the next phase in their plans, informed and motivated by these core ideas.
