Absolutely. "In the business" and all. Having said that, if you have a couple new guns that you've kind of put back and the market skyrockets, as long as it isn't a habit you can drop them for a profit. Who gets to define what is "in the business" and what they define it as is where the problems can arise.

The only time it kinda chapped my ass was 2012 when retirees, et al who could camp out all day, buy all the ammo, then sell it at 2 to 4 times the price with stories of DHS orders, Obama shutting down ammo factories and similar as the reason no ammo was to be had in stores.

No, but for a modest fee I can provide engineering blueprints.

Great, I'll be mass producing them the day prior to the 'gun buybacks' when they buy any firearm for $500.

Nice ILLEGAL SBR DUDE...man you are gonna hose it up for the rest of us.

It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

I haven't sold any guns like this but I've sold a handful of accessories for either a break even or small profit. It's a perk of choosing a career in LE, which there are not a whole bunch of perks in, especially these days. An example would be the time I bought a Vortex Viper PST 1-6 for $475, played with it for a month or so and just didn't care for the LVPO option vs. red dot. So I sold it for a price that allowed me to get roughly $50 in my pocket, even after shipping & insurance. BTW, the person I sold it to still got a like new scope, everything included in a brand new sale down to the cleaning cloth for under what they sell for.

On the flip side, I have a safe queen Geissele Super Duty LE that can only be purchased by LEO's that I've contemplated selling to fund another silencer. It's a rifle not sold to public. I had every intention of making it a duty rifle, but Geissele introduced the Super Duty LE AR pistol a few months later and it has served that role. The 16" now just sits around. If I put it on the market right now, I'd probably stand to make double my out of pocket cost. In the end, this is America and it's called capitalism.

Maybe not sold to the public by Geissele, but there are no laws I'm aware of that prevent you from doing so. It is your property. Maybe it gets you on Geissele's shit-list or something, but how would they know?
